The 2010 Offshore Patrol and Security Conference will include a waterborne exhibition, the event’s organisers have confirmed.
Nathan Martin, Managing Director of The Development Network, said: “The waterborne exhibition will be an exciting opportunity for purchasers to experience Rigid Inflatable Boats [RIBs] and other small patrol craft at first hand.”
RIBs and other interceptors are useful in offshore security because of their high speed and manoeuvrability. They are kept on board larger Offshore Patrol Vessels and are used for boarding suspicious small craft such as speedboats, and for patrolling inland water waterways.
The exhibition will give leading manufacturers of these boats an opportunity to demonstrate their products to up to 35 different navies, coastguards and border protection agencies from around the world. It will run concurrently with the conference in the secure waters surrounding the Royal Naval Dockyard in Portsmouth, the home of the British Navy.
Mr Martin said: “This will be a great opportunity for a tangible experience of what manufacturers are offering. The exhibition will generate feedback from the customer community, which will in turn show designers exactly how these boats are going to be used and will improve the solutions that they are offering.”
